Sermon Revelation 6

📖 THEME: “The Opening of the Seals and the Final Warning”

(Based on Revelation Chapter 6)

🟡 INTRODUCTION (True Illustration)

During times of war, ancient kings often used sealed scrolls to reveal important decisions little by little. Only authorized people could open those seals.

In Revelation chapter 6, John sees a mysterious scroll sealed with seven seals. As each seal is opened, prophetic scenes unfold before humanity.

These visions reveal the spiritual history of the Christian church and the condition of the world before Christ’s return.

The message is clear: history is not out of control. God already revealed what would happen — and Jesus alone has authority over the future.

🔹 1. THE WHITE HORSE — THE PURE GOSPEL GOES FORTH

📖 Revelation chapter 6 verses 1 and 2

The first seal reveals a white horse.

  • white represents purity
  • the rider carries a bow
  • he goes forth conquering

Historically, this symbolizes the early Christian church after Christ’s ascension.

The gospel spread powerfully throughout the world despite persecution and opposition.

👉 The church possessed spiritual purity, biblical truth, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Lesson: The true gospel advances with power when Christ remains at the center.

🔹 2. THE RED HORSE — PERSECUTION AND BLOODSHED

📖 Revelation chapter 6 verses 3 and 4

The second seal reveals a red horse.

  • red symbolizes bloodshed
  • peace is removed from the earth
  • persecution increases

Historically, this points to the period when the Christian church faced intense persecution under the Roman Empire.

Many believers remained faithful even unto death.

👉 Satan tried to destroy God’s people through violence and fear.

Lesson: True faith remains faithful even during suffering.

🔹 3. THE BLACK HORSE — SPIRITUAL DARKNESS

📖 Revelation chapter 6 verses 5 and 6

The third seal reveals a black horse.

  • black represents spiritual darkness
  • truth became corrupted
  • human traditions replaced biblical teachings

Historically, this represents the spiritual decline during the medieval period.

The Bible became hidden from many people, while error and apostasy spread.

👉 Spiritual famine became more dangerous than physical hunger.

Lesson: Whenever people abandon God’s Word, darkness grows.

🔹 4. THE PALE HORSE — DECEPTION, DEATH, AND JUDGMENT

📖 Revelation chapter 6 verses 7 and 8

The fourth seal reveals a pale horse.

  • its rider is called Death
  • Hell follows after him
  • destruction spreads across the earth

Historically, this symbolizes the terrible spiritual consequences of rejecting biblical truth.

Periods of corruption, oppression, and spiritual decay brought suffering upon humanity.

👉 A church disconnected from Christ cannot produce life.

Lesson: Separation from God always leads to spiritual death.

🔹 5. THE FIFTH SEAL — THE CRY OF THE MARTYRS

📖 Revelation chapter 6 verses 9 to 11

John sees martyrs crying out beneath the altar.

This scene represents all faithful believers who suffered and died for their faith throughout history.

Their cry symbolizes heaven’s demand for justice.

👉 God never forgets those who remain faithful to Him.

Lesson: Even when evil seems to triumph, God still remembers His people.

🔹 6. THE SIXTH SEAL — SIGNS OF THE END

📖 Revelation chapter 6 verses 12 to 17

The sixth seal introduces extraordinary signs:

  • a great earthquake
  • the sun becomes dark
  • the moon turns like blood
  • stars fall from heaven

According to the historic prophetic interpretation taught by many Christian expositors, these signs point toward the closing events of Earth’s history.

The world enters a time of fear and crisis as humanity realizes that divine judgment is approaching.

👉 Humanity seeks protection everywhere — except in God.

Lesson: The signs are not meant to create fear, but to call people to repentance and preparation.

🟢 CONCLUSION (True Illustration)

A watchman once saw a storm approaching from far away. He warned the people repeatedly, but many ignored the signs because the skies still appeared calm.

Hours later, the storm arrived with full force.

In the same way, Revelation 6 shows that God warns humanity before the final events arrive.

The seals reveal that history is moving exactly as prophecy foretold.

✨ FINAL APPEAL

The message of Revelation 6 is not merely about disasters and judgment.

It is a call to spiritual preparation.

  • Jesus still offers mercy
  • the gospel is still being preached
  • the door of grace is still open

But prophecy shows that Earth’s history is nearing its final moments.

👉 The most important question is not whether the seals are opening.

The real question is:

Are we spiritually prepared to stand before God?

🙏 FINAL PRAYER

“Lord our God, as we study the prophetic message of Revelation, awaken our hearts to understand the urgency of these times.

Help us remain faithful to Your truth in a world filled with confusion and spiritual darkness.

Prepare us for the return of Jesus and keep our faith firm until the very end.

May we trust not in human power, but only in the Lamb who is worthy to save.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
