Sermon - Revalation 2.

📖 SERMON: “Hear What the Spirit Says to the Churches”

(Based on Revelation Chapter 2)

🟡 INTRODUCTION (True-to-life illustration)

There is a story about a man who, after many years of marriage, said to his wife:
“I never betrayed you, I always worked hard, I always provided.”

She replied with tears:
“But you stopped loving me.”

He was doing everything right on the outside… but love was gone.

This is exactly what we see in Book of Revelation chapter 2. Churches that looked faithful — but had serious issues in the heart.

🔹 1. THE DANGER OF LOSING YOUR FIRST LOVE

📖 Revelation chapter 2 verses 4 to 5

The church of Ephesus was:

  • hardworking
  • patient
  • doctrinally sound

Yet Jesus said they had left their first love.

It wasn’t a lack of truth — it was a lack of relationship.

👉 Today, many:

  • know the truth
  • defend the faith
  • work in the church

But have lost their passion for God.

Lesson:
God doesn’t want just your works — He wants your heart.

🔹 2. FAITHFULNESS IN THE MIDST OF TRIALS

📖 Revelation chapter 2 verse 10

The church of Smyrna faced:

  • persecution
  • suffering
  • poverty

Yet they received no rebuke — only encouragement:

“Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

Lesson:
True faith is not proven in comfort —
it is proven in suffering.

🔹 3. THE DANGER OF COMPROMISING WITH ERROR

📖 Revelation chapter 2 verses 14 to 16

The churches of Pergamum and Thyatira had a serious issue: They tolerated false teachings and sinful practices.

They didn’t fully reject God —
but they didn’t fully obey Him either.

Lesson:
The greatest danger is not abandoning the truth —
it is trying to adjust it.

🟢 CONCLUSION (True-to-life reflection)

A young man raised in the church walked away for years.
He never forgot the truth — but he stopped listening to God.

One day, hearing a simple message, something awakened inside him.

He returned.

And he said:
“I never stopped knowing God…
I just stopped hearing Him.”

✨ FINAL APPEAL

In every message of Revelation chapter 2, one phrase repeats:

📖 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

This message is not just for ancient churches.

It is for you.

  • Have you lost your first love?
  • Are you going through trials?
  • Are you compromising with truth?

There is still time.

Jesus is still walking among His people…
calling… correcting… restoring.

🙏 FINAL PRAYER

“Lord our God,
today we have heard Your voice.
If we have lost our first love, restore it in us.
If we are facing trials, strengthen our faith.
If we are compromising, give us courage to change.

Help us to hear Your Spirit and remain faithful until the end.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.”
