Sermon Revelation 3

📖 THEME: “Wake Up and Open the Door”

(Based on Revelation Chapter 3)

🟡 INTRODUCTION (True Illustration)

It is said that a night watchman fell asleep during his shift. Everything seemed calm, and there was no visible danger. But while he slept, a small fire began — silent and almost unnoticed. By the time he woke up, it was too late: the damage had already spread.

This is also the spiritual condition of many people today. They are not openly rebelling against God… but they are spiritually asleep.

In the Book of Revelation chapter 3, the message is clear: it is time to wake up.

🔹 1. THE DANGER OF A FAITH THAT ONLY LOOKS ALIVE (SARDIS)

📖 Revelation chapter 3 verses 1 to 3

The church of Sardis had a reputation of being alive… but it was dead.

Externally:

  • appearance of life
  • spiritual reputation

Internally:

  • emptiness
  • lack of spiritual power

👉 It was a faith of appearance, not experience.

Lesson:
God is not impressed by religious appearances.
He sees the heart.

The call was clear:
“Wake up, and strengthen what remains.”

🔹 2. THE FAITHFULNESS OF THOSE WHO REMAIN (PHILADELPHIA)

📖 Revelation chapter 3 verses 7 to 10

The church of Philadelphia was small, but faithful.

  • little strength
  • many limitations

But one great quality:
they kept the Word.

👉 They did not deny the name of God, even in the middle of opposition.

And they received a powerful promise:
an open door that no one can shut.

Lesson:
God is not looking for great strength —
He is looking for faithfulness.

🔹 3. THE DANGER OF SPIRITUAL INDIFFERENCE (LAODICEA)

📖 Revelation chapter 3 verses 15 to 17

The church of Laodicea was neither cold nor hot.

It was lukewarm.

  • they did not completely reject the faith
  • but they also did not live with spiritual fire

👉 They thought they were spiritually rich… but they were spiritually poor.

This is the most dangerous condition: thinking you are well when you are not.

Lesson:
Spiritual lukewarmness is silent, comfortable… and destructive.

🟢 CONCLUSION (True Illustration)

A man received several important notifications on his phone, but ignored all of them. He thought, “I’ll check them later.” Among them was an urgent warning that could have prevented a serious problem.

When he finally looked… it was too late.

The voice of God is like that.

He speaks.
He calls.
He warns.

But many people leave it for later.

✨ FINAL APPEAL

The final message is one of the most powerful in Scripture:

📖 Revelation chapter 3 verse 20

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock…”

Jesus does not force His way in.
He invites.

  • If you are spiritually asleep — wake up.
  • If you are weak — remain faithful.
  • If you are lukewarm — rekindle the fire.

Today, He is still knocking at the door of your heart.

The decision is yours.

🙏 FINAL PRAYER

“Lord our God, today we have heard Your call.

Wake us up if we are sleeping. Strengthen us if we are weak. Rekindle the fire within us if we have become lukewarm.

We do not want to only appear alive — we want to truly live in You.

Help us open the door of our hearts and remain faithful until the end.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.”
